Visit Omarama Township - Omarama is a mountain community in the middle of everywhere . The township is located 5 mins drive from Lake Benmore Holiday Camp.

Renowned as a gliding and fishing mecca, it’s close to Mount Cook, the Seven Lakes, penguins, numerous wineries, gold medal fly fishing, unique out-door Hot Tubs, excellent biking and great hiking.
Visit Twizel - Twizel NZ is the closest town to Mt Cook and Lake Ruataniwha, scene of the world rowing championships. All this with the world famous Southern Alps and Mt Cook as a backdrop.
Walking tracks near Lake Benmore Holiday Park:
Otamatakou Scenic Reserve (2 hours, 5.5km)
Track classification: Tramping track ; Mountain bike - Easy
This walk follows Glen Creek and is found off SH 83 near Lake Benmore. The reserve itself contains many remnant shrubs including Hebe cupressoides, matagouri, mountain wineberry,coprosma propinqua,Corokia cotoneaster and Olearia virgata. Mountain biking: Bikers can ride the marked farm track and once at the reserve, explore the area on foot.
Benmore Peninsula (1 hour 30 mins, 4km)
Track classification: Walking track
This walk climbs up through exotic forest and traverses around a peninsula jutting out into Lake Benmore.

5 – Omarama to Otematata: 24 km, Grade 2 – undulating except for short steep sections
6 – Otematata to Kurow: 43 km, Grade 2 – undulating except for short steep sections
7 – Kurow to Duntroon: 27 km, Grade 2 – undulating except for short steep sections
8 – Duntroon – Oamaru: 53 km, Grade 2 – undulating except for short steep sections
